What is iClicker Cloud?
iClicker Cloud is a Student Response System (SRS). It can be used to engage with students in a virtual or on-site class. Utilizing a SRS allows instructors to get instant feedback and check in with students. iClicker is a supported technology at the University of Guelph and has a CourseLink (Brightspace) integration. This means that grades collected using iClicker can be synced with the CourseLink gradebook. Instructors can create an iClicker account for free. Students require a subscription or Clicker remote to access iClicker.
Why Use iClicker?
An SRS can provide an outlet for instructors to engage with learners and provide immediate feedback. Unlike evaluation pieces that are due at a later date, the use of iClicker allows for real-time feedback for both students and instructors. iClicker activities create an awareness around familiarity with content and highlight areas for review. Activities facilitated with iClicker can be completed in various modalities. For example, iClicker quizzes and iClicker polls are facilitated on-site and synchronously online. Meanwhile, iClicker assignments are completed asynchronously by students. Moreover, whether you are teaching on-site, online, or a combination of the two, iClicker activities provide a way for learners to participate in class.
Some ways to use iClicker include the following:
Icebreakers
Open-ended questions
Learner check-in
Entrance/exit slip
Recap/review
Team/group work
Discussion
Attendance
Participation
These activities can be incorporated as evaluated (summative) assessment or non-evaluated (formative) assessment pieces in a course.

iClicker Activities
There are three different activity types that you can create using iClicker Cloud: polls, quizzes, and assignments. See more about choosing an activity type for your class.
Polls
An iClicker poll can be facilitated during class time. As the instructor, you can navigate from question to question (along with the corresponding course content) with your class.
Quizzes
An iClicker quiz can be facilitated during class time. Students can navigate through the quiz and respond to questions at their own pace.
Assignments
An iClicker assignment can be facilitated during class time (synchronous) or outside of class time (asynchronous).
